Letter of Recommendation Request
I'm excited to support your journey to graduate school, medical school, or your future career. A strong letter of recommendation is a key part of your application, and I'm here to help.
Is a Letter from Me Your Strongest Option?
The best letters come from faculty who know you well beyond your grade in a class. They can speak to your skills, character, and potential in detail. Before requesting a letter, please consider the following:
- Did you actively participate in my class? Did you attend office hours, ask thoughtful questions, or contribute to discussions?
- Have you worked with me in a research capacity? This provides the strongest basis for a detailed, impactful letter.
If we haven't had much interaction beyond coursework, I encourage you to seek a letter from another professor who knows you better. My goal is for you to have the most compelling application possible!
How to Request Your Letter: A 3-Step Guide
Step 1: Let's Connect 🗓️
Please email me as early as possible to schedule a brief meeting. We'll discuss your career goals and future plans. This helps me write a letter that is tailored to you.
Note: I only write letters for students who agree to waive their right to view them.
Step 2: Assemble Your Packet 📂
Gather all the required materials. The more information you provide, the more personal and effective my letter will be. See the checklist below.
Step 3: Submit Everything deadlines ⏰
Submit your complete packet to me in person at least one month before your first deadline. Early submissions are always appreciated!
Your Recommendation Packet Checklist ✅
- A Brief Summary: A typed paragraph detailing our interactions (classes, grades, research roles).
- Required Forms: All official forms for each school or employer, with your sections already completed.
- Your CV or Resume: Your most current version.

What's Next?
Once you've submitted your applications, please send me a quick email to let me know about your results. I'd love to hear where you are headed and stay in touch as you begin your new chapter!
I look forward to supporting your academic and professional journey.
