Course Description

This course introduces students to the ontological and epistemological foundations of different theoretical perspectives underlying various qualitative research methodologies. By the end of the course, students should be familiar with the theoretical underpinnings of a wide range of qualitative methodologies including naturalistic inquiry, phenomenological research, ethnography, grounded theory, action research, heuristic inquiry and discourse analysis.

In addition to assisting students in deepening their theoretical knowledge of qualitative research, the course content includes utilizing qualitative methods in collecting, interpreting and reporting data.
